All points of sale are closed, except supermarkets, pharmacies, opticians, gas stations, car and bicycle repair shops, banks and post offices, laundries and dry cleaners. Beauty salons and hairdressers are also closing, and before that museums, gyms, swimming pools and theaters have been closed. Restaurants and cafes can only sell takeout food.
Also, not all schools will work, teaching will take place remotely. Worship is allowed with restrictions: all participants must wear masks, singing is prohibited, a distance of at least 1.5 m must be maintained between participants.
Restrictions will also apply to private events. A single accommodation can accommodate a maximum of five guests from a maximum of two families. Children are not included in this number. During the Christmas period, December 24-26, four guests from other households will be invited.
During the new year, the sale of fireworks and their use in public spaces will be prohibited.
On the streets of Berlin, the police monitor compliance with the rules on wearing masks and social distancing.
