According to the Kremlin, the Russian president discussed the casual conflict with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian and called for a ceasefire.

In a separate statement, the foreign ministers of the United States, France and Russia said the escalating conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over secession from the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh posed an unacceptable threat to regional stability.

In a joint statement, the ministers of these countries strongly condemned the unprecedented and dangerous outbreak of violence and called for an immediate ceasefire and an unconditional ceasefire.

The conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh resumed more than a week ago. The region most inhabited by Armenians separated from Azerbaijan in 1991, but, from the point of view of international law, it still belongs to Azerbaijan.

Neither Azerbaijan nor Armenia, which support the breakaway region, still show a willingness to succumb to the conflict. Both parties ignore calls to cease fire and resume negotiations.
