The pre-trial investigation to determine the cause of death is conducted by officials from the Criminal Police Crime Investigation Division of the Utena County Police Chief Commissariat, and the investigation is led by Prosecutor Aušra Gylytė of the Utena District Prosecutor’s Office.
According to Prosecutor A. Gylytė, the pre-trial investigation was not initiated and carried out for a crime, but to determine the cause of death of a person. Based on the data collected during the investigation, there is no reason to believe that the deceased was the victim of the accident, nor is there evidence that a crime was committed against them.
No forensic opinion has yet been obtained, so a final procedural decision has not been made.
