Prosecutors are asking the court to restrict waste recycling near apartment buildings in the capital.

The prosecution reported that the company, when requesting a pollution permit, indicated a few years ago that the classification and recycling of construction waste would be carried out indoors and only a part would be stored in a specially equipped open area.

Prosecutors say residents are constantly exposed to noise, unpleasant smells, breathe dust, and live in visual pollution due to possible illegal activities.

The prosecutor asks the Vilnius Regional Administrative Court to revoke the company’s pollution permit, to force it to suspend its activities in the field and to transfer the waste to a company that has the right to manage it.

Inspectors from the Department of Environmental Protection have discovered that the work is not being carried out in accordance with the permit conditions.

The pollution permit was issued to the company in 2016. Due to its activities, the department has previously received complaints from residents of Salininkai, it was ordered to suspend activities last summer, but it did not.
