The head of government, in her post on Facebook, says she is responding to reports that there are fewer cases of coronavirus in some municipalities than reported.
“As soon as the Government, experts and the Association of Municipalities of Lithuania began to argue that the accelerated situation in some municipalities could be assessed by lower quarantine restrictions applied locally, records were added with red exclamations that there are not so many active cases of COVID in one municipality or another. Therefore, decisions will be made based on erroneous statistics, because, for example, the mother-in-law of the deputy director of the municipal administration is still included, although at work for a long time ”, I. Šimonytė announced on Facebook on Thursday.
The head of government says he wants to emphasize once again that decisions on quarantine and, consequently, the color of a country or parts of a country are influenced by only two parameters that have nothing to do with the issue: the number of new cases per 100,000. in the last 14 days and the percentage of positive tests.
“Today, in terms of both parameters, we are in the middle of the red (C) stage, even though we were at the beginning ten days ago. I hope the easing of the restrictions will do its part (and it will if both customers and service providers and vendors follow a voice of security and common sense, because we do not protect the authorities with all the instructions there, but rather we we protect ourselves and our loved ones) and continue to move in the same direction, in the direction of a decrease in the proportion of new cases and positive tests ”, says the Head of Government.
The Cabinet decided on Wednesday to ease the quarantine conditions starting next week: to allow the opening of non-food stores and barber shops and beauty salons with separate entrances.
The doors will be open to those stores with a sales area that does not exceed 300 square meters and that have “a direct entrance from the outside or a separate entrance used only by the customers of that store.”
