President of Mexico: It’s too early to congratulate Joe Biden

“We don’t want to be reckless. We don’t want to act lightly and we want to respect self-determination and the rights of people,” AMLopez Obrador told reporters.

“We have a very good relationship with both candidates,” he added.

“President (Donald) Trump treated us with great respect and we made very good deals. We thank you for not interfering and for respecting us, “said the Mexican leftist leader.

“The exact same thing” applies to Biden, AMLopez Obrador said.

Trump filed a series of appeals with the courts and refused to admit he lost when major American television announced Saturday that it was predicting Biden’s victory after Tuesday’s election.

The Republican has fueled anger during the 2016 election campaign, calling Mexican migrants “rapists” and drug traffickers, and vowing to flee Mexico’s physical border.

However, AMLopez Obrador was able to maintain a relatively warm relationship with Trump and even visited him in July on his first trip abroad when he was elected head of his country.
