Predict when the peak of COVID-19 will be reached in Lithuania: 900 new cases every week

According to forecasts by researchers from the VU’s Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, the total number of deaths from coronavirus will reach 113 by the end of January next year. Currently, 103 deaths from COVID-19 have been registered in the country.

According to these forecasts, the maximum number of confirmed weekly illnesses will be in early December and will reach 900 cases.

Subsequently, the number of new cases is expected to decrease to a similar level to the current one by the end of January.

According to data on Friday, in the short term, the current total of 5,758 coronavirus cases on October 13 is expected to exceed 6.3 thousand. The number of people who remain ill is also expected to rise and, from currently 2,911, will reach almost 3,3,000 on October 13.

These projections are based on the assumption that existing limitations will remain unchanged during the forecast period, based on available data on daily morbidity, recovery and deaths, and other indicators of the spread of this pandemic, some of which are known. and some of which must be identified or estimated.
