This weekend up to 20 games were played in the Regional Basketball League (TOPsport-RKL). After the festive period, several rather unexpected results were recorded in the new battles of Lithuania’s third capacity division.
Basketball players from LCC International University (6-7) in Klaipeda 95:73 (18:22, 24:21, 27:14, 26:16) broke one of the season leaders Biržai KKSC (9-6). The university, which is becoming an increasingly serious force in the league, broke the match on the other side.
Tomas Butrimas, TOPsport – RKL’s most useful player in December, also brought a good game to 2021. The 21-year-old LCC heavy edge scored 20 points (7/9 dvit., 2/4 trit.) In 31 minutes, he bounced 13 balls and scored 33 utility points.
In Biržai’s ranks, the most useful was traditionally 36-year-old defender Darius Griškėnas (16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 rebounds, 5 innings, 17 rebounds).
LCC is the only TOPsport-RKL team with a legionnaire in its ranks. In the team led by coach Marius Tamolis, 9 of the 17 students registered for the championship are from Serbia, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Greece and Zambia.
The best winner in the match with Biržai was Stefan Manavis of Greece (12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 rebounds, 6 innings, 19 assists) and Zambian heavyweight basketball player Wamulundi Simwinga. (11 points, 7 reps, 2 res., 16 points).
LCC currently ranks 10th among TOPsport-RKL’s 16 Division A teams, and Biržai is 4th.
Division B continues to surprise Šiauliai Saulės-SG with their victorious and assured game (6-3). Laimonas Kutras students in the sports hall commemorating Šiauliai’s bronze victories 96:70 (23:18, 21:11, 19:18, 33:23) wrote a loss for one of the Division B favorites at Pakruojis “Lygumai-ŽŪB” (6-3).
Jonas Paukštė, a 224 cm tall giant, is playing an increasingly important role in the ranks of Saulės-SG, which is becoming a dark horse of Division B. In the match with Pakruojis, the 20-year-old years scored 21 points, bounced 15 balls, blocked 4 pitches and scored 34 utility points.
The bird game is getting better with every game this season. Before that, in three games, the midfielder scored 7, 12 and 31 utility scores, respectively.
Nerijus Keleras, a 38-year veteran, stood out at the Pakruojis club (17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 rebounds, 5 wins, 20 rebounds).
This was the fifth consecutive victory for the young people from Šiauliai and for the last time, Saulė’s representatives experienced the bitterness of defeat in the TOPsport – RKL championship on November 21.
Šiauliai ranks second among the 9 teams in Group A Division B, and Pakruojis ranks third.
Excellent matches took place in Kaunas, where in Division A relations were clarified by veteran teams Omega (7-2) and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU, 3-7).
In a high intensity game, Omega’s basketball players would have played the last quarter and enjoyed the victory. 83:80 (24:21, 19: 7, 21:24, 19:28). Omega was led to victory by Tadas Sebežiovas (31 points, 5 rebounds, 7 innings, 34 assists), Tadas Klimavičius (15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 rebounds). , 23 points) and Evaldas Dainis (13 points, 10 responses, 5 points, 21 points). Three musketeers scored 59 of the team’s 83 points.
Julius Daugėla, 21, put on an impressive performance on the KTU team. The 189cm tall defender scored as many as 8 3-pointers and scored a total of 34 points and 30 utility points. 34 Points Won – This season’s TOPsport-RKL performance record. Daugėla also repeated the record of three points scored this season, which he shares with sniper “Tauragė” Matu Makauskas.
The Omega A division ranks fifth and KTU twelfth.
The regular victory was obtained by the leader of division A in Vilnius Rivile (12-3), at home 86:65 (17:10, 20:17, 30:18, 19:20) after beating Prienai CBet-KKSC (2-9).
The most useful in the ranks of the capital club was just 16:37 min. Karolis Brusokas, a tall man with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 20 utility points.
“The atmosphere in our team is really good. We always call each other before the game in the dressing room. Especially young players to go fight. It’s a very good way for them to improve and show what they can do. Maybe one of them will go up to LKL or even more in the future, ”said 29-year-old Brusok.
The tall player who played for the LKL and the French teams was also satisfied with the high level of the TOPsport-RKL championship: “There are several well-known colleagues here who have played before. Clearly compared to France the physique and speed are quite different, but the men are fighting, everyone is trying. The level of RKL has really increased compared to when I played here 12-14 years ago. “
At the time, Arnas Tilindė, a 23-year-old who scored 14 points and the same number of utility points in the ranks of the Prienai Club, hoped that his team would still find its way to victory: The opponents climbed, took the balls , and we lacked the will, the struggle. Which is because I play well, but we lose. I could score some points, but the most important thing for me is to win as a team. We need to put our heads in order, we have to make an effort, we need sports rage. “
Rivilė ranks first in Division A and CBet-KKSC is ranked 14. Teams that ranked 15th and 16th in Division A will fall to Division B next season from TOPsport-RKL.
