At the end of the wild waterfowl migration, the poultry will be allowed to stay outdoors again from Saturday. Such a ban was introduced in February.

According to the Food and Veterinary Office, an outbreak of avian influenza in Lithuania has been prevented this year, but the risk continues, especially as there are new reports of the disease on poultry farms in Hungary.

“Each poultry breeder must assess the risks and continue to monitor their birds closely, protecting them from any contact with wild birds,” the report said.

According to the Authority, if the situation worsens, the poultry ban can be renewed.

This year, 32 avian influenza outbreaks have been recorded in Poland, more than 572 thousand have been destroyed. Birds Influenza outbreaks have also been reported in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Romania, Ukraine, Germany, Slovakia, Italy and Denmark.
