Porsche’s answer is synthetic fuel. Generally speaking, synthetic gasoline is an internal combustion engine fuel developed without the use of fossil fuels. These are environmentally friendly fuels, as they can be produced in an environmentally friendly way. A car that burns them can be completely CO2 neutral, especially if renewable fuels are used to produce synthetic fuels.

Porsche, together with Siemens Energy, AME, Enel and ENAP, are preparing to start producing synthetic fuels in Chile. Small quantities of these fuels will be produced next year and Porsche expects to reach an annual production of 55 million liters by 2024. In 2026, those volumes will be another 10 times higher and continue to grow. Synthetic gasoline will be suitable for use in conventional engines, including your current gasoline car. And they will make our vintage cars very eco-friendly. Most importantly, Porsche will extend the life of the 911 in this way until at least the end of the decade, and no one will be able to say that this car is very polluting.

Synthetic fuels have many advantages. Modern fuels generally have 30-40 components, synthetic fuels only 8-10. Because they don’t use oil, there are no by-products – the production of synthetic fuels itself can be very environmentally friendly. Cars that burn synthetic fuels are cleaner because they emit less harmful particles (which are simply not in the fuel) and NOx. However, this not all.

As production recovers, Porsche estimates that synthetic fuels will contribute up to 85 percent to the environment compared to conventional gasoline. less CO2.
