At night, the entire water area of the port was scanned again, no contaminants were observed. The responsible services have been instructed to monitor and observe the situation closely, so the Port Authority ships will be on duty all night, ”says Algis Latakas, Director General of the Klaipeda State Port Authority.

Extremely fine spots of pollutants were seen around 8pm in the morning on the new Smiltyne ferry. All services were informed about the incidence in accordance with the established procedure.

The services of the Harbor Master with the help of pollution elimination vessels and practical boats, with the help of the State Border Guard, immediately drag the pollutant stains with absorption barriers. Some 120 m of absorption hoods were used during the decontamination operation.
