“I was impartial when I decided to participate in the Seimas elections, but from the beginning I knew that I would definitely write a request to join the party.” A person does not join a liberal party, but he declares himself liberal. I also think it is fair to join a party whose flag is running in an election. I hope that my example will be followed by other people who have decided to participate in political activities with a certain political force ”, emphasizes R. Lopata.

At the meeting of the Board of the Liberal Movement, R. Lopata was admitted to the party by decision of the Board. Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, the president of the Liberal Movement, is very positive about Lopata’s decision to join the party.

“The professor’s suggestions and ideas about our electoral program, the great willingness to contribute and the actions of joining party activities are a very positive and even more liberal step for even more active activities. In terms of values, the interests of R. Lopata and the Liberal Movement agree, and before coming to our ranks, the professor was not a member of any political party, “says V. Čmilytė-Nielsen.

“I see the significance of my activities in defending freedom, dignity and human rights from excessive government interference in personal life. Together with the Liberal Movement, I am committed to initiating and implementing the changes that will ensure this. The problem of a free man is becoming increasingly important in Lithuania, and the pandemic has only made it even clearer, “said the professor, who is convinced of his party choice.

R. Lopata is one of the founders of the “Liberal Reform Fund” (2001), the initiator of the ongoing discussion “Prospects for Liberalism in Lithuania”, dedicated to specific discussions on liberal politics, the content of liberals as a political force and program themes (2018 – 2019). .
