The explosion that destroyed the residential building to the ground on Šiauliai Mažosios Lietuvos street caused the services to stand up around the seventh morning.
Firefighters saw a less common sight: there was only a pile of ruins left from the 150-square-meter house.
“There was fire. The walls and roof of the building collapsed, injuring two people. One person is in resuscitation, the other is being treated on an outpatient basis,” said Giedrius Vaičiulis, representative of the Department of Fire Protection and Rescue.
There were 46- and 45-year-old spouses in the home at the time of the accident. According to preliminary data, the man taken from the shipwreck was resurrected, the woman suffered less: her legs were burned.
Luckily there were no children at home at the time of the explosion, they came back later. Authorities have not yet mentioned what may have caused the explosion.
The heating system of the house was modern, solar collectors were installed. The fire was extinguished by five fire trucks. The wreckage also damaged the neighbors’ car and the adjacent building.
