The man tried to profit from the marijuana trade and found himself at the bank again.

On Thursday, after examining the case, the Šiauliai Regional Court found P. Gražulis guilty of smuggling and disposing of drugs with the aim of distributing them.

Mažeikiškis was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison. As the court reduced this sentence by a third, P. Gražulis will have to spend 6 years and 4 months behind bars.

The mad were hiding in a gas cylinder

P. Gražulis committed the crime with which he is charged in November 2019.

While in Spain, he agreed with an unidentified person during the investigation that he would buy about 2 kilograms of the cannabis drug for 2,000 euros and take it to Mažeikiai.

At the end of the same year, the drugs were brought by minibus from Spain to the agreed location in Lithuania.

After collecting the package, P. Gražulis brought the drugs home.

After a while, on January 24, 2020, the Mažeikiai sold part of the cannabis to a person in debt for 4 thousand euros, and kept the other part hidden at home.

These drugs were discovered a few days later by police officers who came to P. Gražulis and searched his home.

P. Gražulis, who was prosecuted for drug smuggling and drug disposal for the purpose of distribution, initially tried to outsmart himself and claimed to have been a victim of such circumstances.

In court, the man fully admitted his guilt. Therefore, this case was examined under the abbreviated evidence examination procedure.

P. Gražulis said in court that he sent drugs to Lithuania for profit.

In Spain, a minor who paid 2,800 euros for two kilograms of cannabis expected to earn 6,000 euros selling drugs in Lithuania.

The man said he had installed a shelter in the gas cylinder to prevent the drugs in the cannabis stored there from evaporating.

He was asked to allow him to serve his sentence in hospital.

In court, P. Gražulis deeply regretted having been involved in this crime. The man claimed that such a move was also influenced by the loss of a loved one and the serious illness that befell him.

P. Gražulis asked the court to allow him to serve his sentence in the prison hospital.

The crimes charged to P. Gražulis are punishable by imprisonment of eight to ten years.

The prosecutor, who supported the state prosecutor’s office, requested that the defendants be sentenced to nine years and six months in prison, reduced by a third.

Mr. Gražulis’s lawyer argued that, given the circumstances of the case, his defendant could be sentenced to a lesser sentence.
