“There are detainees for participating in the unauthorized campaign,” Minsk police Natalia Hanusevich told Interfax.

“The militia has repeatedly warned the participants that the event is not sanctioned,” he added.

Hanusevich said the capital’s militia was urging people not to participate in such campaigns.

Earlier it was reported that several participants in a race at the Friendship of Nations Park in Minsk had been arrested.

According to the portal tut.by, it was a charity event during which funds were raised for “foundations that help protesters.” 35 people participated in the race.

A small column of runners was reportedly followed by a minibus with officers from the force structure. Finally, according to witnesses, two people were arrested.

In Belarus there have been unprecedented protests for the second month in a row since the presidential elections on August 9, announced by Aliaksandr Lukashenko, who has ruled the country since 1994. The opposition and Western countries consider these elections to be rigged.
