So far, the majority of the resort’s visitors are those who have their own accommodation here or weekend vacationers.
“We have had a very busy weekend so far.” This weekend has slowed down a bit, probably due to the weather, but the employment is really good, “said Ingrida Valaitienė, director of the Palanga Hotel and Restaurant Association .
Some, tired of the quarantine, say they are now in a hurry to take advantage of hotels offering significant discounts on weekdays.
“It just came to our notice then. I just (want) to relax from home. We haven’t been anywhere for two years, we think we have to,” said a Palanga guest.
Some people believe that in summer they also go to the sea. Others explain that it is impossible to plan a vacation during a pandemic.
“It just came to our knowledge then. We will have to adapt to that,” said the man interviewed by LNK Žinių.
Not everyone will return to Palanga in the summer.
“We are very happy to be one day in Palanga, because there are no people here. This is very good. We will definitely not choose Palanga in the summer, ”said the young woman.
Another vacationer considered the future still uncertain.
“Lithuania is cold and it is not clear what the situation will be here, if we will be able to go somewhere or if we will have a coffee outside,” he said.
The journalists also managed to catch a working fanatic from Palanga.
“We spent a lot of time in Palanga: beautiful, fun, Lithuanian, national,” said the man.
People are haunted by doubts about summer vacation
Hotel representatives point out that most people still have doubts about summer vacations.
“What will it be like here? What will that pandemic situation be? Will passports of immunity, self-isolation be required? There are still questions, so people are not in a hurry. Now we see that they are boldly planning the next two weeks, although they know that the conditions for cancellation are really flexible, ”said I. Valaitienė.
But some owners in both Palanga and Neringa say summer vacation hours for resorts are ending. To order rooms and apartments, some people rushed in only after the quarantine was lifted.
Located in Šventoji, near the sea, a small hotel with eighteen rooms is still being built. It will open its doors in mid-May and there are almost no vacancies.
“June is filling up really fast. Especially Vilnius residents, Kaunas residents, who live further from the sea, are in a hurry, want very fast and for weeks (to book a vacation). We have almost no seats for July There are still some vacancies in August, ”said hotel owner Sandra Japšaitė.
A week’s rest in a double room here in May costs around € 200, and in July you’ll have to pay around € 500. Hotel managers speculate that the popularity is due to what people did not pay attention to before the pandemic, that there are terraces and a separate entrance for each room. Almost all the resorts that promise to come are families.
“Children bring their parents. Still others ask for a surprise. They reserve a table for us in the cafe, bring them as dinner, and then it’s a surprise that they stay with us for a couple of days for a walk by the sea.
But we note that the base – weeks. This is a family vacation. I think they all long for each other, so this year is probably the case, ”said S. Japšaitė.
Vacation homes by the sea are also very popular this year. Some of them can also be ordered. People wonder if reservations can be easily canceled when the quarantine situation changes.
There are promised obstacles to that.
