The CEC met at the meeting on the request of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) to recount the votes in the single-member constituency of Utena. The participation of Rolanda Gudynienė, president of the Utena Regional Commission, in the organization of the vote counting also raises doubts about the LSDP. According to the LSDP, he is an assistant to the conservative member of the Seimas, Edmundas Pupinis, who won the elections in Utena.

All CEC members supported the recalculation of votes.

The representative of the Conservatives in the CEC, Gitana Matiekuvienė, withdrew from the vote at the CEC meeting, but presented her opinion.

“The president did not participate in the vote count. The question arises why the LSDP did not immediately raise this issue and did not offer to remove the chair immediately. There is a question about the sealing of the bags, no damage was recorded . There were also no irregularities for organizational reasons. I also had to look at how the eyelids were opened, the whole process went smoothly. (…) I really did not have any questions about the transparency of the vote counting, “said G. Matiekuvienė.

Andrius Puksas, another member of the CEC, who participated in the vote counting on Monday, also said the process was closely monitored and that the president’s performance raised no doubts.

“I have no doubts about the results and it was done neatly. The circumstances presented in the complaint do not correspond to reality, ”he said.

At that time, CEC member Aistė Žilinskienė stated that all doubts should be dispelled. According to her, there were controversial cases in the realization of protocols when deciding if the bulletins were valid or invalid.

“It just came to our attention then. As the Supreme Court has said in its practice, all doubts must be dispelled,” said A. Žilinskienė.

ELTA recalls that in the electoral district of Utena, after the second round of the Seimas elections on Sunday, an unusual situation arose: E. Pupinis and the president of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP), Gintautas Paluckas, received identical support from voters.

On Monday, the votes in the constituency were recalculated and it was announced that the mandate was won by the conservative E. Pupinis. After summarizing the final results, it was announced that 7,076 citizens voted for E. Pupinis and 7,071 for G. Paluckas in the Utena constituency.

Justas Pankauskas, vice chairman of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, says he submitted a request to the CEC on Wednesday to recount the votes in the single-member constituency of Utena.

The participation of R. Gudynienė, president of the Utena Regional Commission, in the organization of the vote counting also raises doubts about the LSDP. According to the LSDP, he is an assistant to the conservative member of the Seimas E. Pupinis, who won the elections in Utena.
