The second round will have the other half of the seats distributed. But yes, we want to win the elections, in terms of number of seats, I have no doubt that many people have similar objectives ”, assured the LSDP leader.
G. Paluckas joked that he remembers the impressive electoral campaigns in Lithuania: Rolandas Paksas entering the stage with a motorcycle, singing songs.
“We have the legal regulation that we have created. (…) Going there was incredible, the ice fell from the helicopters, everything was fine. But when we have adjusted ourselves in this way and even the party insignia can no longer be worn on the billboard when we go to the elections, it means that we are strongly bending the stick, ”explained the leader of the Social Democrats G. When asked about possible coalition partners, the LSDP leader said he still did not know what would happen in the Seimas. The politician explained that the “obligation” of the LSDP is the center-left coalition.
“I don’t know what will happen in the Seimas. I don’t know if there will be liberals in at least one of the three parties, the Labor Party, the Polish election campaign, and all these things are very important. And we don’t understand what inventions they are all spreading: our The main duty as a left party is to strive to form a center-left coalition. It is our duty. If for some reason we do not, then the president makes suggestions, tries to shape, seeks unity. But I see no reason for that in Lithuania ”, assured the politician.
Letter to party members
Just before the Seimas elections, G. Paluckas, chairman of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP), distributed a letter to the parties defining the possible form of a ruling coalition.

“We have opponents who are afraid of us, so they are trying to intimidate and exclude people from the Social Democrats by lying disgustingly about coalitions supposedly agreed with the Conservatives,” the LSDP leader explained to party members.
“There were various forms of coalition building, but this time the whole party will decide,” Paluckas said in a letter.
“I have said it many times, so I repeat it: it is our duty to reach a center-left coalition. Therefore, feel free to spread the lies and fabrications of your opponents, “writes G. Paluckas in a letter to the representatives of the LSDP party.
LSDP Leader Delphi assured that the letter was genuine. And it is for party members who hear lies in public.
“Here is my letter, there is no reason for me to speak differently or to respond to the accusations of R. Karbauskis, because he is doing it on purpose, trying to deceive people. I don’t even want to talk to him. Because it does it deliberately, but we talk to the parties and they all know my attitudes, the attitudes of our party, being the left party. He confirmed that the decision on the coalition will be made by decision of the whole party. It is not entirely clear yet what form this will take.
“It just came to our knowledge then. I know what we have, what we do, what we have to do. It will be the will of the party members,” said the LSDP leader.
The politician said that he saw no point in engaging in a war of words with R. Karbauskis, because it was “his playground.”
“He draws people there and defames them,” he said.
Asked if there is discomfort within the party over rumors about a possible joint work with the conservatives, G. Paluckas
“Whenever someone from outside starts talking, spreads it in various circles, orders publicity and blows all this fog, people ask questions accordingly: why is a person lying? Delphi recalls that rumors about the joint coalition agreed between the LSDP and the Union of the Fatherland – Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD) have been brought to light by the leader of the LVŽS R. Karbauskis.
Asked about the statements of the LVŽS leader, Ramūnas Karbauskis, about the possible agreement between the LSDP and the TS-LKD, G. Paluckas said that the latter might have to apologize.
“We need to find the strength to find ourselves and apologize. Not me, but the Socdems. There are thousands of people who are offended because they see a lie flow, “Paluck told reporters.
