This information may be relevant to employers who hire workers from abroad. Under the current procedure, foreigners arriving in Lithuania from third countries must isolate themselves for 14 days, and foreigners arriving from affected countries must isolate themselves and pass a test for coronavirus infection.
Paid exams are compulsory only for foreigners from third countries (countries not belonging to the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) who come to Lithuania to work or with special permits. For Lithuanian citizens returning from abroad, if they wish, COVID-19 tests are performed free of charge by registering with the 1808 coronavirus hotline.
Isolation facilities, transportation to isolation facilities, transportation to the test site for coronavirus infection, and testing for coronavirus infection for foreigners arriving in Lithuania for work or with special permits must be provided and paid for by the employer, the person inviting or the foreigner.
Fourteen laboratories are currently accredited to evaluate coronavirus infection. Among them are five private laboratories that also perform paid tests.
