In the Gargždai constituency, two outgoing Seimas members tried to triumph again in the second round: the conservative Rasa Petrauskienė and Petras Gražulis, who this time stood up.
After the first round, the two candidates received almost two hundred votes.
Conservative R. Petrauskienė tried to enter the Seimas for the third time. The woman first ran for the Gargždai single-member constituency four years ago, then remained fourth of seven candidates, winning 15.5%. (2,768 votes).
He ran for the Seimas for the second time last September, when a seat in parliament became vacant after the election of then-Seimas member Bronius Markauskas as mayor of the Klaipėda district. The politician then defeated the Center Party candidate, Kristupas Krivickas, by a significant margin.
On Sunday, R. Petrauskiene had to fight P. Gražulis, who has been at Seimas since 1996, all consecutive terms. Sometimes he managed to win in a single-member constituency, the last time he returned to parliament on the party list. Now that P. Gražulis was free from partying, he himself stood up.
After counting the votes from 25 districts of the Gargždai constituency, it became clear that P. Gražulis is celebrating the victory. According to the data, P. Gražulis collected 53.64 percent. votes, and R. Petrauskienė – 42.58 percent. votes.
