E.Baltaduonytė-Łatkowska has lived in England for eleven years. The apartment has been rented for many years, so it is not possible to make alterations and repaint the walls. After buying a house with her husband a couple of years ago, Egidija had a chance to escape what she says is the British favorite color of white magnolia.
“When we got to the new house, everything still smelled of paint, because we bought a newly built house. I did not interfere with anything in the first half of the year, and then my fantasy began ”, said the interlocutor with a laugh.

Egidija shared her home changes on the facebook group “Before and After”. True, the woman only put the bedroom space there, and the house has changed more rooms: the walls of the living room and bathroom were redesigned with decorative plaster and special paints for decoration. She has also restored several antique furniture and has renovated the patio of the house with her husband.
The photographs of Egidija’s bedroom remodel have generated several thousand administrators and many comments. The interlocutor was glad that almost everyone was beautiful and benevolent, because, according to him, only the motivated sister decided to show her house changes in public.

The color of the walls was dictated by the curtains that were seen
Egidija said that she thought for years which room she would like to sleep in. Because when they moved into the new house, all the walls were white.
“At first I thought, maybe something with gray, then maybe brown, then I thought maybe blue or something between blue and green would be beautiful here. I was looking at Pintereste’s ideas, I saw such deep green curtains and a golden table next to them. Will, here is my color! Said the woman.
– I remember it was a long weekend, I got up, very gloomy weather, thinking what to do here. The man had gone out for a walk with the dog. I went to the store, bought everything, and went back to work. The man thought he was still asleep until I got to the room and saw that the wall was already half green (Serie). At first I was a little scared, but I said, wait, we’ll add details, everything will be fine. “

The bedroom, quite large, the wall too. Egidija said she didn’t want it to be empty and not look like a pancake, so on one side of the wall the woman came up with the idea of making the ornament herself. To do this, they used wooden sticks, glued them to the wall, painted them, and then glued them with a thin adhesive strip of gold-colored metal:
“I had seen a blue wallpaper with a gold trim. I thought: wallpaper is wallpaper, and why not make something similar yourself. I wondered what that ornament could be made of, and was happy to find those 240 cm long, 0.5 X 0.5 cm thick wooden sticks. That would wash and glue them. “

On the other side of the wall, looking for a counterweight and very hungry for plants in the room, Egidija decided to buy hanging gold pots.
“When I started to change the image a bit, the old chandeliers that were next to the bed were no longer suitable. I saw these greens with gold, I longed for them a lot, at first the man said that he did not need such expensive lamps (the price of one is 55 pounds (64 euros) – aut.) To sleep with them. But a couple of weeks later I bought them ”, continued the interviewee with a smile.
Egidija also decorated the wall of another bedroom with wooden sticks, only smearing them with oil, which gave it a dark oak tone. He taped it to the repainted wall and chose a clock in the right shade for the company.

The wall is dark, but the room is bright.
When asked if she was not afraid that the dark and rich color of the walls could darken the room, Egidija said no:
“The windows in that room are on both sides, so there is enough light here, and on a sunny day it is especially bright. If the window was on only one side, I would not have dared to paint that color. Or maybe I would, I don’t know.
As soon as I started painting, at one point I was very scared that that room would be darker and quite gloomy. But that color is so rich that it adds comfort. In fact, I am very happy. Even the man appreciated that this color looks good on him here and is very cozy. “
In both the living room and the bathroom, Egidija chose darker and richer tones for the walls. When asked if this was due to a general aversion to white, the interlocutor said that she had hinted at colors just by living within white walls for so many years.
“When you are eight years old, you just want something brighter with white walls. Now I have the opportunity to experiment in my own home, if something fails, it will always be possible to adjust,” said Egidija.
Learn from Youtube, ask sellers
Egidija laughed and said that she didn’t know anything about the type of work she was doing, but when a woman had a thought in her head, she was looking for answers and was interested.
“I watch YouTube, I search the Internet and I ask sellers a lot when I need something, what would they advise me, would they recommend. My sister is laughing, she says, probably the vendors are already afraid of you, ”Egidija said without losing her good humor.
Speaking of interior changes, the woman said that everything takes time because it requires both inspiration and funding.
“It seems like you are just repainting the wall. But then certain interior details need to be changed, and the details cost a lot. When we moved into our new house, we also planned to change the furniture, because the old ones were bitten by a dog, we also wanted to tidy up. the garden, so there was no shortage of those expenses.
In the bedroom I was planning to repaint the wall, I thought it would fit a hundred pounds, but then I needed some interior details, the paint itself is not cheap and wood in England is generally very expensive, just a few sifted pillows 60 pounds (70 euros).
When it comes to furniture renovation, you also have to buy tools, paralon is very expensive, sometimes it is not even worth renovating, but if you want to do it yourself, it is definitely worth it.

When asked about future plans, if she was planning other interior changes or furniture renovations, the interlocutor said she was waiting for another room where her restored antique table and chair should be. Work is not yet underway there as they await inspiration and a final idea of how the room will be furnished.
