Over the long weekend, Klaipėda County police officers organized raids, not only to check public order, but also to monitor residents’ compliance with the obligation to wear protective masks in public places.
Although there was occasional congestion in the cemetery, traffic at the cemetery entrances was generally fluid.
Most of the inhabitants flocked to the Lébartai cemetery, where they visited the graves of their loved ones. However, Gargždai, Plungė and other cemeteries in the county also lit candles.
Port city police reported Saturday that the situation at the county cemetery was quiet, there were no traffic jams, but officers on patrol warned 84 citizens across the county not to wear or misuse masks, 52 of them in Rietavas, 8 in Plungė, 24 in Klaipeda.
Officials also drew up two protocols under article 45 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. (Violation of the Law on Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases of Human Beings) – one protocol was drawn up in Plungė, another – in Klaipėda district.
On Sunday, November 1, car traffic at the county cemetery was small, there was minor congestion at the Lébartai cemetery from 1 to 4 pm However, the traffic was regulated here by police officers.
In the old Gargždai cemetery, the residents behaved courteously, only those cars were admitted to the cemetery, which were used by extremely elderly or disabled residents. The people here diligently followed the rules, wearing masks at every step to the cemetery.
An incident at the entrances to the Lébartai cemetery had to be explained by the patrols: the driver complained that the owner of another car was driving through the side of his car.
Across the county, on November 1, police officers warned 233 people not to wear or wear masks the wrong way. Only those who were more arrogant or who had already been warned about non-compliance with the procedure received protocols: a total of 11 protocols were drawn up.
Seven residents of Klaipėda were punished in Klaipėda for not wearing masks or for violating self-isolation.
