“Maybe not everything can be repeated now, but at least it would be an example of what families can do during quarantine,” the idea suggested.

Hubertas 15 minutes He told me that he built his first igloo (at least something similar) when he was still a child, about eight years old, when he got a job shoveling snow from the garden. “Then I tried to dig all the snow in one place to make the pile as big as possible,” he recalled. – Later I tried to dig a tunnel through the pile. This was actually my first igloo tunnel dug out of a pile of snow. Later each year, igloo got better and grew. When others ran out of brains with the first snow, I built these snow cabins. “

Over time came more experience, knowledge, igloo seemed more and more impressive. “There is no need to seek information or advice, it all comes with experience,” said Hubert.

This year he and his friend built an igloo in four hours, even with the interior lighting spacious enough. As your video demonstrates, there is plenty of room to play cards. Friends joked that they could rent such accommodation to tourists through AirBnb, because at least there was electricity and a freezer.

Didn’t you think about spending an extreme night and sleeping in it yourself? “Probably the challenge for next year will stay here,” thought the igloo builder.

Hubert’s advice for those who want to build their own igloo is at the end of the article.

This year, the guy conceived another original entertainment: he rafted to a pond already covered in ice. The idea of building a raft hadn’t left him and his friends for some time, he wanted to do it in the summer. But the summer was spent on a boat in the Curonian Lagoon, so only when winter came was it time to implement the plan.

“During Christmas, we build rafts, and on the morning of the second day of Christmas, we sail to the pond, admiring the wonderful start of winter. There was ice in the pond, so we had to break it down to keep sailing, Hubert recalled. “We were very lucky to have very good weather, quite mystical fog, snow and very fine ice, which also gave us a much more interesting sailing experience.”

The guy who studies economics at VU said that in his spare time he has an additional source of income: he makes a windbreaker. It would be hard to deny that Hubert’s skilled hands are the result not only of his own work, but also of his genes and his upbringing.

Hubert’s father, Vaidotas, is the founder of the Carpentry Workshop, whose teachers pay great attention to preserving authenticity in Lithuania, especially in Lithuania Minor. It produces and organizes information on weather vanes, restores villas and windmills in the coastal area and restores the terrace of the H. Šojus mansion in Šilutė.

The most impressive work of the shipbuilder Vaidotas Blūdžius was in 2014. The old sailing ship on the Curonian lagoon – the cruiser “Dreverna” was restored. Hubert 15 minutes He said he had completed the fifth sailing season with her last year, he is assistant to the captain of the ship V.Bliūdžius. “This boat is the reason why the raft could not be built in the summer,” he admitted.

A guaranteed recipe to have a good time. Hubert’s tips for building an igloo:

  • The outside temperature has no effect on the construction, that is, the igloo can be built with very loose and sticky snow.
  • First, turn a pile of snow big enough so that all the people who built the igloo will fit inside.
  • Then it is necessary to press the entire pile with a snow shovel to make the snow fall.
  • Later, the work of the “miner” begins: digging. The entrance should be made as narrow as possible so that the interior of the igloo is more comfortable later on. This will create a better effect.
  • Digging inside requires great care. The excavated snow can be put back on top of the igloo so that we can make the snow cabin even larger.
  • After digging a large enough igloo, you can do the finishing – beautify all the shapes, make the cabinets, and have a good time with the family inside.
