Alexei Navaln was poisoned by the Noviiok strain, reports the Chemical Weapons Insurance Organization (OPCW) and is a cause for great concern. The media detected are not in the annex to the Convention on Chemical Media.
On Tuesday, the OPCW confirmed that traces of a cholinesterase inhibitor were detected in samples taken from Russian opposition leader A. Navaln. imediaga is included in the ban on the use of chemical media based on a study report transmitted by the OPCW to Germany, according to Interfax.
The OPCW stated that a cholinesterase inhibitor, similar in structure to two outlets from the Noviiok group, had been found in A. The results of the study confirm data previously published by laboratories in Germany, Sweden and France. Noviiok was used to poison A. Navaln. Russia should explain how this happened, the report said.
The head of the OPCW, Fernando Arias, sees the results as a matter of great concern, the organization said in a statement.
Mr. Arias added that the use of chemical weapons by any person in all circumstances is reprehensible and completely contrary to the norms established by the international community.
The Kremlin says it does not have the report and therefore does not comment on it. According to Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, the document must go through diplomatic channels, which is a waste of time.
