This is where Delphi’s study tour in the land of the brothers and the “Discover Latvia” report cycle began.

So we present to you what is interesting and original to experience in this elegant, remote yet cozy and Scandinavian edge pearl.

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by an oasis of absolute tranquility away from the noise of the city. Here you will find a minimalist style hotel complex, authentic old country buildings and a restaurant in an ornate building, accessible by the imposing, old and gleaming red Italian-French Fiat Simca.

The show soon became intriguing: dinner awaited us on the terrace of the restaurant, accommodation in a hotel overlooking the Mūša valley, in the morning, breakfast, and a tour of the old car museum.

The menu: pleasant surprises

The restaurant serves European Baltic cuisine, as well as a surprise on the restaurant’s wine list: local wine grapes can be combined with the dishes. The menu is well thought out, not overloaded, but a demanding gourmet will find the desired dish.

We organized a beef entrecote with french fries, grilled vegetables and gorgonzola cheese sauce (21.50 EUR) and a duck breast with sweet potato puree, steamed spinach and cherry on the cozy and bright terrace of the restaurant. demi-glace sauce (€ 14.50). Both prepared meat and duck are soluble in the mouth. Vegetables and other seasonings, duly selected.

Along with the dishes, we combine the dry red wine of the 2019 vintage of the Kuzminsky Sinij variety (150 ml cup – 5 euros) made by winemakers from the Bauska area.

Night rest – in the silence of the village.

After dinner on the way to the hotel, a great opportunity to take a walk in the nearby park.

Those who want to stay in the recreational complex for a longer period of time can take advantage of the aquatic entertainment provided by nature, pitch tents, enjoy a barbecue, sauna, as well as organize celebrations and seminars, there is also a playground for children .

The highlight of the town is the vintage car museum.

The entire recreation complex is an open-air museum: it is an authentic example of what the typical peasant farm was like before, the living and working environment of the Žiemgala and Bauska area of the last century. Fortunately, this place was preserved thanks to the efforts of the people who lived here during the Soviet era.

In the museum you can see rare and exclusive cars manufactured between 1916 and 1994, a large number of agricultural machinery: tractors and trucks, such as Fordson, DT-20, MTZ-5, John-Deere, which in Latvia in the first half of last century they were extremely rare. Some of the cars are the remaining solo exhibits, such as the Opel Admiral Convertible or the seven-seater Ford-Vairog made in Latvia and many other European, American and Soviet cars. Some of the exhibits belonged to famous local people at the time.

How to get there?

From Vilnius and Kaunas you can pass Pasvalys and pass Bauska, because when passing Vaškis and Krievgalis in Latvia you will come across a short gravel road. For Klaipėda travelers, it is possible to drive both through Žagarė and through Joniškis and Bauska.

All, although during a short stay, did not give up the idea that from this pearl of nature, culture and gastronomy looking at the horizon on the south side, just behind a farm in the Mūša valley, the trees are already roaring in Lithuania.

Bravo, brothers, high level!
