This is not the first time that confident women, who have turned into a virtual dating carousel and believe in an unknown and never before seen image of a stunning dreamer in a virtual space, and who don’t really know where she is. the scammer, they lose more than ten thousand euros, reports Šiauliai county police.
The acquaintance with these Raseiniškės began at the beginning of December last year. On social media, she met a man who introduced himself as working for an oil and gas company in the Gulf of Mexico. The woman did not communicate with him live, only corresponded and admired the photos he sent.
After some time, the virtual acquaintance wrote that he would like to return to Lithuania and meet him, but he has problems: he has to pay for the termination of his employment contract and his bank cards were hijacked during the attack by Somali pirates. . Therefore, he asked Raseiniškės to transfer 10,000 euros to the specified bank account, which he promised to return upon arrival in Lithuania.
Since the woman could not do it using Internet banking because it did not allow the money transfer limit, she had to go to the bank branch in Raseiniai. You transferred EUR 10,200 to that account.
Raseiniškė immediately received a message from a virtual friend that after receiving the money and returning soon to Lithuania, the documents would be prepared. But a couple of days later, he received a new transfer request for € 15,500 because he had to pay for an exit code. What a miracle it takes to gamble such a sum of money, the woman did not understand, but she realized that money, by manipulating her feelings, attracts scammers.
The most tragic thing about this story is that the woman did not lose her savings, but a loan taken from a company because she did not have that money herself.
