The Via Baltica incident took place near Ramygala. Here, two cars collided first and then one of them collided with a tow truck.
The circumstances of the accident were described by the man driving the KIA at the scene. He was driving in the direction of Kaunas when he noticed a car turning from the lane opposite his. The driver was still trying to back up to the right, but Toyota ran toward KIA before leaving traffic.
After the collision, KIA flew into the ditch and rolled onto its side, and the front wheel of the Toyota car broke. The unmanaged car turned on the road and ended up in a DAF truck behind KIA.
A passenger in a Toyota car was killed in the accident and the driver of a car turned into a pile of metal was pushed by firefighters who had to cut up the vehicle. It was initially thought that there might be someone else in the riveted Toyota, but firefighters found no more people after checking the interior.

Two people driving a KIA car were also injured in the accident. They were taken to the hospital. The tractor driver paid off in shock.
Panevėžys police officers are clarifying the circumstances of the accident. One version was that a Toyota driver traveling from Poland to Estonia with a passenger could fall asleep and drive off as a result.
