After midnight, Panevėžys County LSC Task Force officers patrolling the city noticed the fire on Priemiesčio Street. They first noticed the thick smoke rising and soon saw embers waving.
The crew rushed to the house, part of which was already on fire. Officers immediately began beating on the windows and doors of the house. They managed to wake up a man who lived in another part of the house and was already asleep at the time.

The person managed to get out of the burning building, taking his dog and various items with him. The man said he was already asleep at the time. Although a smoke detector was installed in the home, it had not been activated until officers knocked on the door.
Soon, a large number of firefighters flocked to the scene. They immediately began to put out the house owned by several hosts, which was already completely engulfed in flames.

A resident of Panevėžys rescued by the police indicated that a neighbor could be in the part of the house where the fire broke out. After putting out the flames and entering the premises, firefighters found a burned body in the room.
Experts will explain the cause of the fire, but the fire was likely due to a neglected stove, fireplace, or careless smoke in the house. There was no electricity in the part of the house where the fire broke out.

A man who lived in a house owned by multiple hosts and avoided death claimed that a fire in the neighborhood had caused significant damage.
