The latest issue of JBR discussed the current problems of Vilnius “Rytas”.
Justas Jankauskas, the director of Ryto, visited the show after receiving a question about severance pay from fired manager Donald Kairis. He said it will be much smaller than what has been named so far, up to 300,000. euros.
“According to our calculations, the maximum compensation is two times less: 150 thousand euros. But I think we will have it even smaller,” he said.
Asked about the future of Giedrius Žibėnas in the team, J.Jankauskas stressed that so far the manager is expected to see himself in this position at the end of the season.
“We have not talked about any number of games that we give him. Giedrius is the coach who should end the season, although of course we will follow the situation, the game, we will react to the situation. We continue to trust the coach 100 percent,” he thinks J.Jankauskas.
Not many changes to the composition of “Rytas” are anticipated – the only potential last name was named – Keith Benson, whose contract could be terminated on January 30.
Meanwhile, Rūtenis Paulauskas did not skimp on the praise of the young Augustas Marčiulionis.
“We don’t have many young players today, but what I see in Auguste is potentially better than Andrew Goudelock in many cases, which is amazing,” he said, adding that he would like to see a second basketball club in Vilnius.
