Omniva LT, the company that operates the ATM network in Lithuania, claims that the number of packages delivered in 2020 was 2.5 times higher than in 2019.

According to the company, in November-December. the volume of shipments was 2.4 times higher compared to the same period in 2019.

According to Omniva LT director Simonas Bielskis, the company experienced a significant increase in the number of packages during the first quarantine in March-April, when the number of packages shipped increased by 50% each month. According to him, the number of plots grows every year during the festive period, but the first quarter of 2020 highlighted new trends and made it possible to forecast the growth of the number of plots.

“Due to the tighter restrictions of the second quarantine, many were not able to go to their favorite stores to shop, buy gifts and physically pass them on to relatives or buy other necessary goods, which increased the number of orders from the electronic store, as well as the number of shipments and customers. In November and December 2020 alone, Omniva LT began working with more than 400 new commercial customers, and the number of private customers has grown constantly, “says the company.

The company anticipates that due to the rapid growth of the e-commerce market, the package flow will continue to grow.

“Although the festive period has passed, the flow of shipments continues to be high due to restrictions on movement between municipalities and the closure of physical non-food stores. We anticipate such quantity of shipments in Lithuania only after 1-2 years. By assessing current trends, another 10-20% growth in e-commerce can be expected this year, ”says S. Bielskis.
