After today’s meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the President authorized the publication of an additional list of Belarusian citizens who will be prohibited from entering the territory of Lithuania. It is planned to do so tomorrow, at the same time that Latvia and Estonia intend to do the same, “said Antanas Bubnelis, spokesman for President Gitanas Nausėda, on BNS.
According to the Presidency, the blacklist scheduled for publication on Friday includes 103 people from Belarusian power structures, judges of the Omon, Supreme and Constitutional courts, and representatives of the Presidential Administration.
Additional sanctions are announced after Lukashenko’s secret inauguration on Wednesday. Lithuania and other Western countries do not recognize the results of the elections held in Belarus in August and Mr. Lukashenko as the legitimate president of the country.
The Baltic states imposed sanctions on Lukashenko and 29 other officials in late August. People on the list are prohibited from entering Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
The European Union is also considering the possibility of issuing joint sanctions, but no diplomatic disputes have been resolved so far.
