UEFA President Alexander Cheferin confirmed that the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League season will end in an unusual format.
It has been officially announced that the remaining four matches of the eighth Champions League final will take place at the hosts’ stadiums. If the situation does not allow it, the party will move to Portugal.
From the quarterfinals, where four teams have already secured a place, they will play without retaliation: the winner will immediately receive a direct ticket to the next stage.
This means that the four quarterfinals and the two semifinals will take place in a one match format.
This eighth Champions League final will take place in Lisbon from August 12 to 23. The final will also be played in the Portuguese capital.
The following couples have not yet played the deciding match in the eighth final before the tournament in Portugal: Man City – Real, “Barcelona” – “Napoli”, “Juventus” – “Lyon” and “Chelsea” – “Bayern”.
The European League season will also end in a similar format: a quarterfinal match and a semifinal each. The rest of the tournament will take place from August 10 to 21 in four German cities: Cologne, Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Gelsenkirchen.
