NVSC representative Justina Petravičienė told BNS that statistics on the number of people recovered and currently ill were not provided due to alterations in the information gathering process.

“Currently, the situation is being clarified by specialists and solutions are being sought to eliminate technical disturbances,” said a representative of the institution.

He also added that he could not say why the statistics did not include data from the previous day’s investigation.

Currently, specialists are clarifying the situation and solutions are being sought to eliminate technical disturbances, – said J. Petravičienė.

“The laboratories are responsible for the research, I cannot comment on that,” said J. Petravičienė.

The COVID-19 statistics are normally updated each morning by the Department of Statistics.

On Wednesday, this data was delayed and was not provided in full; there was a lack of the number of people who have recovered and are currently ill, as well as data on the number of tests performed.

The head of the Statistics Department, Jūratė Petrauskienė BNS, stated that she did not know the reasons for this and offered to contact the NVSC, which has been experiencing a cyber attack these days.
