During the last day, according to the NVSC, 90 new cases of infection were registered, compared to 111 cases the day before and 114 and 138 cases even earlier.
According to A. Vžesniauskaitė, the situation remains difficult in Kaunas county, where the access point of Raseiniai district is located. The Blinstrubiškės welfare home in the district is also a cause for concern.
“Yesterday there were seven cases of coronavirus infection in the Blinstrubiškės welfare home and 17 cases have already been recorded there. Yes, the chimney is expanding,” commented a representative from NVSC.
According to the latest data, two more deaths from COVID-19 have been recorded, they have been identified in Kaunas County.
“They are not related to specific foci, they were people who belonged to the risk group by age and comorbidities,” commented A. Vžesniauskaitė.
According to her, according to preliminary data, the number of chimneys in Lithuania is growing: “today it contributed, at least according to the primary data (…) two chimneys are starting to form, hopefully they will not expand.”
At that time, only one case of infection was recorded in Radviliškis in Šiauliai county, another hot spot, on the last day, so according to the NVSC specialist, the number of cases is expected to decrease there.
Of the 90 new cases of coronavirus infection detected in the last day, half (46) are registered in outbreaks. 37 cases were detected in Kaunas County alone.
There are 19 new cases of infection in Vilnius, 18 in Šiauliai, 9 in Panevėžys, five in Telšiai and one in each of Klaipėda and Utena counties.
After contact with the patients, according to epidemiologists, 75 people were infected, of which 29 were infected outside the outbreaks. The specialists could not determine the circumstances of the infection in 14 people. Furthermore, on the last day there was a case of importation from Belarus in Vilnius county.
The total number of cases in the country is 4,385, currently 1,948 people are still infected with coronavirus and 2,327 have recovered. A total of 91 people have died since COVID-19 and 19 people have died from other causes.
As of June 1, 263 import cases have been identified in Lithuania.
There are 21 thousand in isolation. 204 people.
