NVSC: 4 out of 7 new cases of coronavirus infection at birthday party

“A total of fifteen people attended the birthday party, they still had contact. There are also people who have been in contact outside the celebration, but a study is currently underway. How much I had, I cannot say, because the information is completely new. (…) The specialists are working with this fireplace, there may be problems here, “said Rolanda Lingienė, Head of the NVSC Vilnius Department at BNS.

According to her, one of the patients is an employee of the Mykolas Marcinkevičius Hospital, information is still being collected on possible contact with colleagues or patients.

The import case of a person returning from the UK with coronavirus was also confirmed in Vilnius County.

“During the journey from the UK to Lithuania, he felt the first symptoms, so when he returned to Lithuania, he registered for an examination at a mobile point,” said R. Lingienė.

According to her, six more people traveled with the infected person and were isolated.

The import case was also confirmed in Klaipėda County: COVID-19 disease was diagnosed by the second Ukrainian-born sailor who returned from Nigeria, where he worked on board.

An estimated 14 colleagues traveling together had contact.

Another case was identified in Marijampol condado county. According to the NVSC representative, although the person traveled to Poland to work, it is still unclear if this is an import case.

“A sick person transports shipments to Poland. On May 26, he took the package from the Kaunas package terminal and on the 27th he took it by car to Poland. He drove alone. He returned home the same day. (…) No we know if it is imported. According to preliminary data, he denies having had contact in Poland, “said R. Lingienė.

According to her, in Lithuania this person had contact with two relatives.

A total of 1,694 cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Lithuania on Friday. The infectious disease still affects 312 people, and 1302 have recovered.

71 people died from COVID-19, and nine more died from other causes.
