It is true that there are up to 50 “boxes” in the capital, but so far only 18 meters are in operation.
There will be more stationary meters
Miglė Bielinytė, Representative of SĮ „Piekimo paslaugos” 15 minutes He said the number of stationary speedometers in Vilnius will soon increase. Currently, two modern hybrid speedometers are being tested and calibrated in Žirmūnai: in Žirmūnų str. 22 and 52 buildings.
These meters can do more than traditional “nests”. Not only do they measure speed, but they also record the intersection of the intersection when they turn red. The devices cover four lanes, so they can “fire” from both the front and the rear.

Another new speedometer is planned to be installed on Tuskulėnų Street. There was once a “nest” that stopped cars passing through the crosswalk near the gym.
These new meters are built in emergency locations where drivers have the ability to accelerate faster on a straight road than KET allows.
Many drivers also remember another “nest” that no longer exists. Whistling with the breeze from Narbuto st. the once disciplined subway of the mountain was hit by vandals.
A new batch of speedometers is bought
However, according to M. Bielinytė, it is not yet clear where the stationary meters will be, which the Vilnius municipality plans to buy with a new purchase.
15 minutes has already written about the municipality’s planned (not yet completed) public procurement for the purchase of another 32 meters. They will cover up to 6 lanes, so you can also control A lanes. All facilities will be equipped with an automatic vehicle registration number recognition system (ANPR – Automatic license plate recognition), which can identify the numbers of the vehicle that committed the crime and determine which country state registration numbers are in the photo of the crime.
For the 32 fault recording facilities, the sites will still be planned and evaluated separately. The list of streets currently published is not exhaustive.
The need for speedometers considered
According to Miglė Bielinytė, the city of Vilnius, together with specialists from the Association for Communications Services, this summer also considered the need for rape recording equipment in the city. Before its acquisition, updated information on black spots, traffic accidents in the city in 2019 and other criteria was considered to ensure that the newly purchased violation detection equipment better meet expectations and help ensure traffic safety.
After collecting all the necessary data and assessing the new need, the procurement documents are now being prepared and the actual procurement is expected to be published by the end of the year. The specific number and location of the damage recording devices will be specified later, the installation itself is planned for next year.
The list of streets is provisional.
The facilities will be installed in those streets and intersections of the city where the majority of traffic violations and accidents occur.
It has been tentatively announced that the following meters will be installed on the capital’s most dangerous transport arteries: Geležinio Vilko, Ukmergė, Oslo, Millennium, Kalvarijų, Antakalnio, Savanorių streets, Laisvės, Minsko and Eišiškių pl. etc
Basically, “new” meters will work in many “old” locations. You can see this by looking at the preliminary map.
