On Monday, July 27, North Korean state television KRT reported that the leader of the Korean War ceasefire during the ceremony to mark the 67th anniversary Kim Jong Un handed commemorative pistols to his officers.
The video shown shows K. Jong Un donating pistols to uniformed officers during a memorial event on Sunday, July 26.
The KRT also broadcast a video of the head of state and several officials who visited the Martyrs’ Cemetery of the Homeland War, but the date of the visit is not specified. North Korea calls July 27 Victory Day in the Great Patriotic Liberation War and accuses US forces deployed in South Korea of escalating tensions on the peninsula.
Shortly before the commemoration, North Korean state media announced that on July 19. A potential COVID-19 patient “crossed” the North Korean demarcation line, prompting Jong Un to demand an investigation into the actions of the armed forces at the border.
