Former Montenegrin basketball player Nikola Pekovic has been hospitalized due to a coronavirus and is in very poor condition, according to telegraf.rs.
According to the report, Pekovich was diagnosed with coronavirus symptoms in one of Podgorica’s hospitals 15 days ago, during which time his condition only deteriorated.
Pekovich is reported to have been diagnosed with mutual pneumonia, and as a result, the 34-year-old former basketball player is breathing with the help of an oxygen mask.
In 2009, Pekovičius became Euroleague champion with Panathinaikos Athens, and from 2010 to 2016 he played for the NBA, Minnesota Timberwolves. The athlete belonged to this club until 2017.
He did better in the 2013-2014 season, when the 211cm tall midfielder stats for the NBA were 17.5 points and 8.7 rebounds.
Since January this year, Pekovičius has led the Montenegro men’s basketball team.
