Next year, the Lithuanian Highway Administration (LAKD) began to build a tunnel next to the Tarand located in Vilnius, where high-growth settlements are forming on the stretch of the Vilnius-Ukmergs highway, where there is a high risk of accidents.
LAKD director Remigijus Lipkeviius said a tender for the contractor for the construction of the Tarands tunnel will be announced in December.
We plan to sign a contract with the contractor in the first quarter of next year so that he can start work, the head of management told the Seimas Economic Committee last week.
According to R. Lipkeviius, the Vilnius municipality is requested to accelerate the removal of the plot for the needs of society, they are necessary for the connecting road.
LAKD is committed to building a tunnel for cars and bridges for four years.
The Tarands community, which brings together around 5,000 inhabitants, is calling on state institutions and municipalities in the city and district of Vilnius to urgently solve the communication problem, which has accelerated especially after the construction of the western bypass. .
