According to Dainius Čergelis, Head of the Construction Policy and Spatial Planning Group at the Ministry of the Environment, the construction sector has easily implemented the requirements to move from energy efficiency class A to A +, of which class A ++ is not much different, just a little stricter.

The Ministry states that in buildings of energy class A ++ at least 50 percent. Energy must be produced using renewable energy sources (biofuels, wind, solar, geothermal, heat pumps). Higher requirements apply to heat recovery ventilation systems, as well as to the thermal properties of partitions and partitions and mezzanines that separate the autonomous heat sources installed in premises or apartments.

These requirements will not apply to cultural heritage buildings if meeting the requirements could adversely affect their characteristics or appearance; houses of worship and other religious activities; for temporary buildings intended for a maximum use of two years; energy-efficient non-residential buildings for industrial, storage and agricultural production and use; standing alone no more than 50 square meters. meters of total useful area for buildings ”, says the ministry.

The requirement is also disabled for recreational garden buildings that are not used for more than four months of the year; unheated buildings, as well as emergency buildings that are not useful for renovation.

An EU directive adopted in 2010 required Member States to ensure that all new buildings have near zero energy by December 31, 2020 at the latest. To implement this requirement, Lithuania envisaged that the energy class of houses under construction from 2014 would not be lower than B, from 2016 – A, from 2018 – A + and from 2021 – A ++.
