According to the law of the Lithuanian Council of Culture, the elections of the LCT are held in several stages. Initially, cultural, artistic, scientific and independent organizations and national minority communities must delegate voters to the Lithuanian Cultural Council, which elects 20 candidates for membership in the LCT. From them, the Minister of Culture, together with the Lithuanian Council for Art and Culture, selects ten candidates and presents the composition of the council to the Government for approval. The Minister of Culture also submits to the Government for approval the candidacy of the President of the LCT, with whom the Lithuanian Culture Council is made up of a total of 11 people.
“We strive for a transparent, open and trust-based dialogue with the cultural community. Therefore, we are announcing the list of new term members of the LCT, although it was formed a few months ago, but so far the council members have not been named publicly. In the near future, we will also address the issue of the candidacy of the future president of the LCT, and we also invite the active participation of the cultural community and the nominees in this process “, said Minister of Culture Simonas Kairys.
Candidates for the post of President of the Lithuanian Council of Culture are kindly requested to submit a free form curriculum vitae (1 page) to the Ministry of Culture by general email [email protected] before 1 February. (inclusive).
The Lithuanian Council of Culture is an institution under the Ministry of Culture that implements state policy in the management areas assigned to the Minister of Culture according to its competence, performing public administration functions. The Council administers the funds from the Culture Support Fund and other funds allocated for the co-financing of cultural and artistic projects. LKT finances art and culture projects through public bidding and awards state grants to creators of art and culture.
The mandate of the current Council will continue until 2021. June 17
