Vaidas Kariniauskas played a career match against his former club, and Kėdainiai “Nevėžis” (2-0) led by him remained in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL).

Kėdainiai residents in their square 76:70 (25:16, 17:14, 19:18, 15:22) beat Panevėžys “Lietkabelis” (0-2), who remains without victories.

The hosts led by Kariniauskas dictated the events on the field from the first minutes of the match and quickly gained a double-digit lead (25:14), and after two quarters, the teams awarded 12 points – 42:30.

After the break, the image in the squad did not change and in the 34th minute Justas Tamulis’ triple increased Nevėžio’s lead to 18 points (71:53), but then Paulius Valinskas took over.

Valinskas scored 12 straight points for Lietkabelis, Vytenis Lipkevičius added a free throw and the owners’ lead dissolved to 6 points – 65:71.

However, in the closing minutes, the Kėdainiai people stabilized events on the field, and the match point was helped by the successful shots of Kariniauskas (76:70).

Kariniauskas scored 26 points (5/9 dvit., 3/10 trit., 7/7 penalty) for the winners in LKL’s most productive match in 31 minutes, bounced 4 balls, made 5 assists, provoked 7 fouls and scored 28 utility points. The basketball player managed to add 19 points before the break.

So far, the defender’s best career performances at LKL were recorded in the Lietkabelis jersey – 17 points and 27 utility points.

Lietkabelis did not save the excellent performance of Valinskas: 20 points (0/3 double, 4/8 trit., 8/9 penalties), 5 rebounds, 6 fouls caused and 20 utility points.
