“According to our initial information, the riots that occurred and the death are not related,” Bilotaitė told reporters during a congress of the Lithuanian Christian National-Democratic Union (TS-LKD) on Sunday.

He said the incident was being investigated by both the police and the Public Security Service.

“My initial information is that these are not related things. “What happened, the riots and the death, are separate things, but I believe that the forces of order will find out and provide all the information,” said the minister.

The malaise, he said, could have occurred for a variety of reasons.

“There will probably be riots from time to time in the camps, because the people who are staying are not satisfied, because their goal is probably not to stay in Lithuania. They want to go to other countries, to achieve their goal, other Western countries, and that is largely due to that.

Of course, the conditions are not always satisfactory, but I want to say that the Ministry of the Interior is doing everything possible to improve those conditions, ”assured A. Bilotaitė.

He also noted that the situation has stabilized, but said that it is necessary to remain prepared for any scenario.

“We are ready to do that,” emphasized the minister.

“It just came to our knowledge then. As far as I know, all necessary medical assistance was provided to him, as well as to the family with the help of social workers, but when the condition worsened, the boy was taken to the hospital and sadly, died, “said the minister. he told reporters.

Ms. Navickienė confirmed that the death and the riots were not related.

“To my knowledge, these two events are not really related to each other,” said the minister.

According to her, there are more sick children among the migrants.

“We still have children with disabilities, they all receive help and the necessary medical attention. Special needs also, if they are identified, everything in general order is individual, provided to each person.

Because of this case, the Rukla employees are really going through a lot, they express their condolences to the father who has lost the child, ”said M. Navickienė.

She said the boy was taken to the hospital when he was found to have a fever.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security also provided an update on the child mentioned by the migrants.

“A child born in 2010 living in the Rukla Refugee Reception Center (Rukla PPC) died in a medical institution. The migrant family (father and son) arrived at Rukla PPC on August 6. The family raising a disabled child, who had just crossed the border into Lithuania, was immediately accommodated at Rukla PPC. The boy was paralyzed, with epilepsy and other diseases. According to the father, the boy became disabled after sustaining a head injury a year ago in his home country.

The Rukla PPC family constantly received medical assistance, necessary medicines and social workers. 2021 September 26 in the morning, the boy’s father reported that the boy had difficulty breathing. An ambulance was called, which immediately took the boy to a medical institution, where the boy died. The preliminary cause of death is acute heart and lung failure. Rukla’s PPC expresses its condolences to the boy’s father. He is provided with psychological assistance and takes care of the child’s funeral, “the ministry said in a statement.
