A member of the Lithuanian Christian Democratic faction of the National Union explained that his position in the proposed ministerial portfolio was simple: he would work where he needed to.

“Ingrida Šimonytė knew it all the time, so it was not a question of persuasion, but of the criteria that are set for the candidates, of the work that is planned, they were the main topics on the agenda, so not it was related to what persuasion it is, ”he said. Hee

Ms. Navickienė did not hide that the field of social security is complex, encompassing many areas of life, but, as she emphasized, the most important thing will be to ensure stable activities in the field of social security in the context of COVID-19 .

“And my own priority would be to increase and improve the availability of social services. It is a situation of inclusion of the most marginalized groups of society, both disabled and single elderly, single parents raising children, this issue really feels and is view from various discussions, from different formats, I think that the issue of the inclusion of individual groups is still very delicate in Lithuania and I would pay close attention to it.

Furthermore, pensions: stable pension growth and guaranteeing it is a high priority for this government and, of course, for the Ministry of Social Security and Labor. I would like to draw attention to the people who receive the lowest pensions, to speak of the lonely elderly. During the previous period, single pensioners were offered a supplementary pension. That, I think, would be a desire to return to this issue after also reviewing the budgets, “said the politician to the priorities.

When asked if there are plans to correct the decisions made or not made by the previous government, Ms Navickienė said she had not thought about it yet.

“I would not talk about fixes or fixes. There are good things that have been done, we will really continue them and most importantly, as I said, is the stability of the system and now I really have no thoughts on reversing any decisions.

We need to review what the budgets are like, what the plans for the future are like, we also have challenges in preparing our program, so we will also have to discuss with the coalition partners how we can better implement the provisions of the program, “he said.
