“It just caught our eye then. The three advisers will change the profile of the job, we talked to them a little earlier, they are planned things. We wanted it to be presented at the same time,” the president told reporters in Darbenai, where he, his wife, and his father attended the town celebration.

The head of state said he was grateful to all the advisers, as each of them enriched the staff in their own way.

As previously announced, President G. Nausėda announced Thursday that he is appointing new heads of the National Security, Education and Culture and Communication groups.

The President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, appointed Darius Kuliešius, who has worked in this group as an adviser to the President, to head the National Security Group.

For the Education, Science and Culture Group since July 15. will be led by historian dr. Jolanta Karpavičienė, Acting Deputy Director for Cultural Activities of the House of Lords.

The new Head of the Communication Group will be announced in July. The head of state says that he will already have a person to fill this position.

Previous group leaders have made decisions to continue working in other areas. The former chief adviser to the president of National Security, Jonas Vytautas Žukas, will carry out private activities, the chief adviser for Education, Science and Culture, Sonata Šulcė will continue his creative and scientific work, and the chief adviser for communication, Aistis Zabarauskas, will return to the sector private.

The reasons for the change are different.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, the head of state hinted that the decisions of at least two of these advisers may be related to personal circumstances.

“The policy is such that it is very difficult to tolerate competition from other things,” said Nausėda, noting that two of these three advisers have young children, families, and the work of an adviser in the Presidency is so exhausting that there is no time to other things.

“We discussed it and I fully understand the reasons. On the other hand, I understand that this is also an opportunity to renew and recharge our activities, ”said G. Nausėda.

Speaking about the decision on V. J. Žukas, the country’s chief stated that perhaps the general needed a longer cooling period after working as an army commander.

“Perhaps being an army commander really requires a cool down period. I strongly urged you to join the team, and it was a very sudden change that happened in your life. Perhaps you weren’t ready for that change. Agree to share the commandments and not be 100 percent. Decision makers are different. Maybe it took time to get used to. (…)

But the general helped us a lot in the first year in many ways. Firstly, he prepared very well for my participation in the NATO summit in London (December), he was very firm next to defending 2%. The requirement of a gross domestic product for national defense helped him establish a good commercial and human relationship with the main NATO forces in Lithuania, ”said G. Nausėda.

At the same time, the President emphasized that D. Kuliešius’ choice to change it was not accidental. This, according to the country’s head, shows that the fight against corruption and the transparent use of public resources will be among the priority areas of his work.

The cancellation of the visit is related to the issue of Belarusian electricity.

The head of state also commented on his decision to abruptly cancel his participation in the Baltic summit on Thursday.

“It just caught our eye then. However, as you well know, we are currently in the midst of negotiations on a rather important issue for all the Baltic States, which is how we will behave with regard to Belarusian electricity. So far, the negotiations have not They have finished. Our negotiators continue to work on polishing the provisions that the three Baltic states would like to see, not two or one in three. When we add the points, there will be an opportunity for such meetings, “said G. Nausėda.

According to the head of the country, there is a great consensus on all other issues: the focus of history, the actions of neighboring Russia, our aspirations in the EU, the new financial perspectives.

Follow the discussions on Lukiškės Square

President G. Nausėda stated that he would closely follow the public discussions on the beach at Lukiškės Square.

“It just caught our attention then. I would say that perhaps it is also a good catalyst to check the mood and temperature of our society, to see how different groups in society value the same fact. Such a discussion, if it takes place civilized form makes sense. And in the discussion, the result will be born, “said G. Nausėda.

Earlier, the head of state expressed the opinion that there is no place for the beach at Lukiškės Square.

“It just caught our eye then. That is my opinion, it has always been that way. I have grown up in a spirit of respect for history, and that plaza is associated with many things to me, and unfortunately many of them are not very fun and entertaining in Lithuanian history. I think we could find another place for a similar type of relaxation, “said G. Nausėda.

Choosing to visit workers is not accidental

The country’s chief and his wife and father decided to visit Darbenai city by chance.

“Workers are part of my heart. My mother was born here, here in Darbėnai Cemetery, under a large beautiful oak, she lay down for eternal rest. Those paths often come here and will lead me to my last days.

She wants to visit her mother as often as possible, but, you know, it’s hard enough these days to go out and find a spare minute. As soon as I find her, I am always ready to come here and pay tribute to the person who gave me so much, who transmitted to me many values that I try to appreciate all my life, ”said G. Nausėda.
