“I think Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen would be a good spokesperson for Seimas, but could he be the only candidate for this post? Probably not,” the head of state told Delfi TV on Sunday.
“Logically, the party leader with the largest faction could also apply for the position of Spokesperson of the Seimas very seriously. It would be easier for him to manage the faction, it would be easier to organize the work and agenda of the Seimas,” said G. Nausėda .
He called the leaders of both parties equal candidates.
“In that sense, I think they would be equal candidates, competitors, if they decided to compete. In this case, apparently, it is a question of agreement on which way to go, ”said G. Nausėda.
Liberal Movement spokeswoman G. Čmilytė-Nielsen told reporters after the second round of the Seimas elections that she would run for the presidency of the Seimas. According to her, in accordance with political tradition, a representative of the second largest ruling group becomes the speaker of parliament.
G. Lansdsbergis has not publicly mentioned the possibility of running for President of the Seimas.
The ruling coalition is made up of the Lithuanian Christian National-Democratic Union, the Liberal Movement and the Freedom Party.
