Speaking about the presidency of the Minister of Economy and Innovation, which has been vacant for some time, the President said that the issue has already moved from the point of death.

“In this case, we are talking about two possible options, both related to certain aspects on which a decision has not yet been made. But compared to what was said before, when it was said” or Mr. Savick or neither ” We have made progress. Other candidates have appeared, “said G. Nausėda.

When asked if both candidates were acceptable to both him and S. Skvernelis, one of the candidates was said to be acceptable to both parties, but the “variant was difficult”.

“It just came to our attention then. But then you should look for a minister in another ministry,” he said.

When asked if he was the current Minister of Energy Žygimantas Vaičiūnas, G. Nausėda confirmed this.

“I am talking about Mr. Vaičiūnas. I would like Mr. Vaičiūnas to be the Minister of Economy and Innovation a few months before the end of his term,” he said.

When asked if S. Skvernelis also agrees with this idea of the head of the country, G. Nausėda replied: “Let’s say yes.”

“At the moment, a lot depends on Mr. Vaičiūnas’ determination. I would very much encourage him to take this position, nobody is formally bidding until there is consent,” said the President, adding that it was not yet possible to talk about how the event happened.

“It is just my opinion: this young man, who has gained experience, has established himself as an excellent energy minister, I think he could head the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, above all, everything is in order in the energy sector,” said the head of state.

“A person can make his own decision,” he said.
