Nausėda convenes the first session of the newly elected Seimas

The President of the State invites the newly elected Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania to the first session on Friday, November 13 at 12 noon.

According to the Constitution, the first session of the newly elected Seimas must take place no later than 15 days after the election of the Seimas.

The Lithuanian Christian National-Democratic Union, which won the Seimas elections, met with the Liberal Movement and the Freedom Party on Tuesday for the first official negotiation meeting on a new government.

If the negotiations are successful, the new center-right government should start work in December.

Ingrida Šimonytė, the leader of the conservative list, claims to become the prime minister.

Conservatives in the Seimas will have 50 seats, the Liberal Movement will be represented by 13 parliamentarians and the Freedom Party has won 11 seats.

On Tuesday, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) distributes the certificates of a member of the Seimas to all new members of the term.
