On Sunday, President Gitanas Nausėda met with Marius Skuodis, the second Freedom Party candidate delegated to the Transport Ministers. He is currently Vice Minister of Economy and Innovation.
According to the president’s advisor, Antanas Bubnelis, several key priorities were discussed during the meeting: competitiveness of the sector, maintaining the importance of national security, development of strategic transport infrastructure, accessibility of Lithuania by air and implementation of the policy. Lithuanian green.
“The president noted that both the transport sector and the Ministry of Agriculture are monitoring the areas that have the greatest impact on the environment, and both areas need a breakthrough in environmental terms,” Bubnel told reporters on Sunday.
According to A. Bubnelis, G. Nausėda positively evaluated the competence and experience of M. Skuodis.
The president emphasized that he had received very specific answers to very specific questions. It can be seen that the candidate is familiar not only with the field in which he is currently working but also with the field of communication. He was impressed that it emphasized the need for transparency in financing road paving, ”said the president’s advisor.
The three most important works
When asked to name the major works he planned, M. Skuodis said that he had discussed three priorities with the president.
“The first thing is absolute transparency in decision-making and the disclosure of the data on which these decisions are based. The public is outraged by certain decisions about the paving of one or another road or certain investment decisions.
What I would like to achieve is that the criteria for investment decisions are very clear to the public, so that these decisions are presented to the public and any Lithuanian resident can easily verify why one decision or another is being made, ”said M Skuodis to reporters on Sunday.
The second priority refers to the sector and the logistics system.
“There are big challenges ahead, both for the European green course and for the need for digitization and innovation. When it comes to just pollution, transport, the automotive sector is one of the most polluting and we will have to find one. way out of this situation, ”said the candidate for minister.
The third priority is the man.
“It just came to our attention then. Because when we talk about communication and infrastructure, we usually talk about the construction of one or another object. But we have plans for sustainable mobility, we need to talk about what should be on the side of the road, what to do. when a person leaves the car, which vehicle to transfer to, ”said M. Skuodis.
Candidate rejected
On Friday, G. Nausėda rejected the candidate for transport ministers Kaspars Adomaitis proposed by the Freedom Party.
