“It just came to our attention then. Neither we nor our subsidiaries have official announcements, and the bandwidth is normal on this day, I would even say good. 426 trucks passed through Medininkai and 462 entered Lithuania,” J. Narkevičius told Eltai.

He also reiterated that the ministers of Ukraine and Poland are being discussed so that Lithuanian carriers returning from Ukraine, via Poland, can, if necessary, bypass Belarus.

“We have agreed on the bandwidth, if necessary, but it is a critical case if it happens. I think the statements are of a political nature, because they will cause a big problem for both Belarusian carriers and not just carriers. I think it goes further beyond logic ”, said the minister.

Narkevich agreed that, in some cases, carriers to Belarus faced “more complex and extensive inspections.”

“We receive information from carriers, perhaps it changes depending on one official or another. But there are no (cases – ELTA) so drastic, as mentioned, that cars with Lithuanian registration numbers will stop not only at the border, but also in the territory. But there are certain cases (at the border – ELTA) in which a broader, deeper and more complicated inspection occurs ”, said the Minister of Transport.

According to data from the Directorate of Border Control Points at 9 am, from the queue of trucks passing from Lithuania to Belarus through the Medininkai border crossing, the estimated waiting time is about 6 hours.
Tractors passing through Šalčininkai to Belarus should spend about 2 hours here; there are 18 trucks in a row.

Tamašunienė: We have no data on unusual actions at the border

Interior Minister Rita Tamašunienė says she has no data on unusual actions on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border. At the same time, he emphasizes that the border guards are cooperating with the Belarusian border guards to obtain the latest information on the situation.

“Currently, we have no data on any action on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border, the movement is progressing as usual. Our task is to ensure control of the external Schengen borders, so we constantly monitor. Officials work in the usual way , and the representatives of the State Border Guard Service are instructed to contact the representatives of Belarus and find out what the situation is and what decisions are being taken, ”Interior Minister R. Tamašunienė said in a comment sent to Elta .

Mr. Lukashenko ordered the closure of the western border with the EU countries Lithuania and Poland. He said this in Minsk on Thursday night, the state news agency Belta reported. In addition, border protection with Ukraine has been strengthened.

Protests against Lukashenko have stalled in the country since the presidential elections in Belarus on August 9.
